According to the narration of al-Tabirsi and Ibn al-Athir, Imam Alī ibn Mūsā ar-Riḍā (عليه السلام) was martyred on the last day of Ṣafar, AH 203, because of poison that was mixed with grapes and offered to him. He was 55 years old when he departed life. His tomb was at the house of Hamid ibn Qahtabah in the village of Sanabad in the city of Yus. In the same house, Harun, the ‘Abbasid ruler, was buried, too.
